Short Summary
jack’s place will be Australia’s first purpose-built, 24/7 residential sanctuary for people in suicidal crisis. Grounded in lived experience and therapeutic care, this space will offer immediate, life-saving support in a calm, natural setting. We are raising funds to build a model of care. Every dollar helps create a place of safety, love, and hope.
Why jacks place Must Exist
jacks place Foundation emerged from Linda’s profound loss when her vibrant, 25-year-old son Jack—having bravely fought a four-year battle with mental illness—confided he had nowhere safe to go and ended his life.
Determined that no one else should face that void of care, jacks place will become Australia’s first purpose-built, 24/7 suicide prevention sanctuary on the Sunshine Coast. In a landscape where public hospitals and mental health units are overwhelmed and ill-equipped to offer truly therapeutic suicide crisis support, jacks place fills a life-or-death gap with a dedicated refuge designed exclusively for those at imminent risk. It will truly hold and support someone in their most vulnerable moment.
What We’re Building
jacks place will be:
• Open 24/7, with no judgment and no locked doors.
• Grounded in nature: every room opens to the outdoors—sunlight, trees, and the healing rhythm of the earth.
• Evidence-based and trauma-informed: care is delivered by a team of clinicians, peer workers, and volunteers trained in suicide-specific models.
• Built around guests, not systems: every design choice—from music availability to room design—is focused on comfort, connection, and safety.
“All thoughts and feelings are welcome here.”

Our Funding Goal: Phase 1 - Model of Care
We’ve completed the strategic foundations:
• ACNC registered and endorsed.
• Granted Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status — all donations are tax-deductible.
• Secured a national leadership team and strong governance.

We’re now raising $100,000 to:
• Develop a robust, evidence-informed Model of Care that integrates lived experience at every level—from homelike facility design and healing gardens to peer-led support and holistic therapies.

Your support isn’t just financial—it’s a message: You believe everyone deserves safety, connection, and hope.

With Heart
At the centre of our logo is a heart, representing love and acceptance. Jack had the Flower of Life tattooed over his heart—symbolising interconnection and unity. This sacred symbol now guides our mission: to connect every person in crisis with the safety and support they deserve.
Thank you for helping us honour Jack’s life by building jacks place —for everyone who needs a sanctuary, a lifeline, a second chance.
