Meet Bert and Norma Bohun.
Bert and Norma have lived in Dandongadale for over 40 years and are two of the most earnest, hardworking and lovely people you will meet.
On the morning of January 5th they sadly lost their home in the devastating fire that swept through the north east region of Victoria that is still burning.
They have lost their home and all cherished items, having left with little more than a bag full of possessions and their beloved cat and dog. They have not yet been allowed to return to their property due to the continuing fire threat and risk of falling trees.
It would be great if the community and people further afield could help Bert and Norma financially to support them at this time, provide funds for clean up and to rebuild their home.
Bert and Norma are committed to their community, Norma having worked for NAB in Myrtleford for 40 years and you will usually find them at the football grounds every weekend supporting the club. They probably know your guernsey number and how many goals and kicks you got.
Bert is the sort of person that if he can fix it or re-use it, he will. I once had a combination lock on a cupboard that couldn't be opened as I forgot the combination number. I asked Bert if he had some bolt cutters and the next week he cut the lock off and asked what we were going to do with the with the lock. Bert said he knows a guy who could fix it and he would reuse it.
If it could be fixed or reused he would, but their home cannot be fixed. It needs to be rebuilt.
If you want to help someone and know where your money is going please donate to Bert and Norma, they would do it for you.
