Build Hope for Chía's Vulnerable Kids

While visiting friends in Chía, Colombia, I was invited to spend a morning with a nonprofit organization called FIM (Fundación Infantes Misioneros). I thought I’d be stopping by briefly—but what I experienced that day left a mark on my heart.

FIM is a grassroots organization devoted to giving children from vulnerable communities a chance at a better life. These are children who face poverty, instability, and often the absence of even their most basic needs. And yet, through the love and dedication of the founder and a few volunteers, they receive something priceless: hope.

But what struck me the most wasn’t just the joy in the children’s faces or the warmth of the people—it was where all of this was happening.

There is no building.

FIM only has a piece of land and a concrete foundation. That’s it. There are no walls, no roof, no classrooms. And yet, every week, these volunteers gather the children outdoors—under the sun, sometimes under the rain—and teach them. They sit on plastic chairs in the dirt. They sing, they pray, they learn. It’s raw, it's real, and it's beautiful.

But it shouldn’t have to be this hard.

The dream is simple: to build a school. A real space where these children can learn in safety, with dignity. A roof to shield them from the rain. Desks instead of dirt. A place where their dreams can grow without being washed away by the next storm.

I created this fundraiser because I believe we can help make that dream come true.

We can’t all be there in person. But we can send a piece of ourselves. A donation, no matter how small, becomes part of something so much bigger—it becomes a classroom, a book, a light in a child’s life.
