Relief for Typhoon Rai Survivors in Philippines
Donation protected
My name is Nuri and I grew up in Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands. I am raising funds on behalf of the residents of small and hard to reach towns in the island that were severely impacted by this catastrophe.
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, Category 5 Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) hit the Philippines, destroying homes, farms, fishermen's boats, churches, schools, and businesses in Dinagat Islands. Dinagat Islands is one of the smallest island provinces in the southern part of the Philippines and Cagdianao is one of its 7 municipalities.
UPDATE as of July 10, 2022: In my last update, I mentioned I plan to visit the Philippines this summer to organize the relief operation personally. Two days after I landed in Manila, I immediately flew to Mindanao to start coordinating logistics. A couple of days ago, I finally got to visit and talk to the survivors in one of the remote islands in town that was severely affected by the typhoon. These are the families that will benefit from your donations.
It was a life changing experience. While listening to their stories, there is trauma, fear, desperation, hope and gratitude in between laughters and tears. Some families lost some family members when the strong winds and storm surge wiped out their homes and some evacuated from one small town to another just to have access to food and shelter. Reaching these small towns was so difficult due to small and rough terrains and some towns are accessible by small motorboats only.
Join me and help provide rice, basic grocery needs, clothing and warm meals for these families. We also hope to provide basic school supplies for elementary school children.
Help share their stories and provide relief. SALAMAT KARAJAW! (Thank you so much)
