Gerald the Giant Marionette

Hi, my name is Jason Holland. I was born and raised in Tacoma, WA. I have adored this city as I watched it bustle and strive as a young child, to see it become a slum state into a fate state, and then now to witness a true beauty. I became aware a couple years ago how much my city had uniquely became a part of me, and how I would now give back to it. So.....
Here is my greatest gift to Tacoma! I have already constructed a 13 1/2 foot operational marionette that will be displayed and operated (by anyone who wants to make him move!) at many of the Tacoma festivals and events. The catch is that I need to construct a very large, very secure scoffolding that will house an armiture above to manipulate the arms and legs of the marionette. Additionally, I will also need to build a housing for the pully system at the ground for the participants use. All of the designs for the armiture, scaffolding, and pully housing have been completed. This goal amount was determined by the materials and time spent, as well as rental costs.


The last image is that of mulitple systems that are fairly simple to design and build. I am very confident that I can and will bring this project to fruition. However, this is going to take hardwork and dedication to have this project completed by Music and Art in Wright Park (August 12), that of which is difficult to fulfill with limited time and resources. 
I am so greatful to all of those who have shown me the Tacoma love throughout the past couple of years and continue to do so as I venture into a very different looking part of my life. I love you all and God bless!
