Assalāmu ʿalaykum. I’m fundraising for Al Qalam Foundation, a community waqf that supports Australian students of knowledge studying at recognised Islamic universities in Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh.
The Need:
Many Aussies leave home to pursue sacred knowledge—Arabic, fiqh, ḥadīth, tafsīr—then struggle with rising living costs and books, risking delays or dropping out. We want them to focus on study, graduate, and come home to serve as teachers, khateebs and community educators.
What your donation supports:
- Stipends for essentials and family (food, utilities, transport)
- Books & learning resources
We prioritise students with financial need, good academic standing, and a clear intent to return and serve communities across Australia.
Goal & breakdown (target: $300,000)
- Accountability
- Needs-based application & verification
- Funds paid to the student’s Australian account where possible
- Transparent updates: number of students supported, anonymised progress notes
- Community-led governance and simple admin (we keep overheads lean)
