My name is Tracey Pekkanen. My husband Joel and I are from Queensland, Australia. In May 2021 we bought some land in Malawi. What began as a labour of love to help a local pastor build a church there, soon turned into a mission to rescue orphaned and destitute children from off the streets. We started with feeding 10 homeless children, but it soon grew to feeding 200 and providing them with clean running water, an education and a safe place to sleep (in the church because there was nowhere else for them to go). Now we desperately need to build a girls' and boys' dormitory, and finish building a large toilet and shower block (that has already been started). To do all this we need over $120,000 AUD.
