BUILD A SCHOOL WITH WALKWAY SCHOOL PAKISTAN – UNICEF reports that Pakistan has 22.4 million children out of schools, making it the second country in the world with most number of out-of-school children. What makes it worst is that more than 50% of the out-of-school children are the girl child. Province of Sindh in particular has more than 6 million out-of-school children. To address this dire need, The Walkway School was launched by The Walkway Educational Society (Regd.) in 2018 to provide access to education to the underprivileged specifically in rural communities in Pakistan.

Through our interventions, we build low-cost sustainable classrooms and/or schools in remote rural areas to provide access to education. These facilities not only enable access to education but also provide an additional layer of support to community through access to clean electricity (access restricted to school area) and access to water (access enabled community-wide). Altogether, our multi-layered community-led approach allows us to not only build schools and provide access to education, but also provides employment opportunities (labours for construction during pre-op phase and teachers for post-op phase). This in turn enables community-led participation in building these facilities, resulting in a healthy community-wide relation where everyone owns our facilities as stakeholders, making the communities responsible, self-sufficient, resilient, and sustainable in the long run.

Before our intervention in Diplo (District Tharparkar ), these children's determination enabled them to study in a wooden hut in Thar desert's scorching sand during peak summers where it was even hard to stand as seen in the picture below.

But do they deserve to be in such a condition? Definitely, not. Do they deserve something for their commitment to education? Definitely, yes. After our intervention, this is how one of their classrooms looks like:

CALL TO ACTION – As we have identified communities for our 6th and 7th facilities to be built, the host communities and all of us at Walkway School including our children are now looking up to YOU for YOUR kind HELP. Donate to help these children get education in safe environment in their own communities where they get to learn and grow as responsible individuals with a potential to change their lives.

Here's how one of the classrooms in these communities looks like at the moment:

Are you ready to create an impact not only on these children but on their families and the wider community as well? Everyone of us at Walkway School assure that even the smallest donations are going a long way to support these wonderful children who otherwise would be forced into child labour.
