Build Classrooms for a Ugandan Village School

Many of you know that after 10 years, I was able to travel with my family back to Uganda. Ivan was able to reconnect with his birth mom and three half-sisters, and I was able to meet my half-brother I’d never met before, along with countless cousins!

My Uncle Robert has a powerful testimony of God saving him. After struggling for years, God called his name several times asking why he wasn’t saved. Years later, he became a deacon, and then a church-planting pastor at Bunakijja Presbyterian Church in a remote part of Uganda near beautiful Lake Victoria.

Because of God's grace, my uncle is now a godly man leading a wonderful village church. It was such a great experience reuniting with him and meeting so many cousins and my brother, not to mention visiting their church.

Ivan and I both shared short devotions and my dad was able to preach. They had special music and a children’s dancing team for our visit.

When my birth father died, Uncle Robert already had 19 children he and his wife were caring for. He had taken in other nephews and nieces who needed it by then. His heart was big enough to include me, but his home wasn’t, so he worked with his pastor to find a safe place for me in the orphanage, which then led to my adoption, and to meeting all of you!

When visiting Bunakijja Presbyterian Church, I realized they also have a primary school (grades 1-3) and are expanding to Primary 4 this year. The only problem, though, is that their current classrooms are very poorly constructed and are falling apart.

They have built the foundation for new classrooms for the school, but were not able to get enough funding to complete it.

I’m appealing to friends and family to come alongside me to bless my uncle, my cousins, and my brother's church with new walls and roof for these new classrooms in order to offer a safe and stable shelter while they grow in goodness, truth, beauty, and godliness.

Each new classroom will cost $4000 to finish building. I have often taken for granted the opportunities, security, and stability of my life and my education.

I’ve never wondered, “Will it rain on us today when we meet for class?”

Will you help me keep Bunakijja school growing, healthy, and a safe place for kids to learn?

I would love for friends and family to pitch in whatever you can to help build these classrooms. My hope is to return to Uganda in the coming years and visit the classroom and church to see the impact it’s having on the community.
