Build a Water Well in Sudan in Loving Memory of Hamza Barakat
إنّا لله وإنّا إليه راجعون
Our beloved brother Hamza Barakat returned to Allah far too soon, leaving behind family, friends, and a community whose hearts will forever carry his memory. Anyone who knew Hamza knew his kindness, his warmth, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued and cared for. His passing has left a deep pain, but we want to honor him in a way that continues to bring him hasanat every single day, insha’Allah.
As Muslims, we know that when a person passes, their deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. We want to gift Hamza a continuous charity that will benefit him for years, decades, and generations to come. We are raising funds to build a clean water well in Sudan in Hamza’s name — a Sadaqah Jariyah that will continue to provide life, hope, and relief to entire communities. Many families in Sudan walk miles for water, and often the water they find is unsafe. This well will provide clean drinking water, serve hundreds of people daily, help with cooking, cleaning, and farming, support women and children who travel long distances, and bring long-term stability to a community in need. Every time someone uses this well, every drop of water, every wudu, every family that benefits — becomes a blessing written for Hamza by the mercy of Allah.
Sudan is going through immense hardship, and access to clean water is one of the greatest struggles families face. Building a well there honors Hamza’s roots and heritage, directly helps people in desperate need, and creates a lasting impact in communities suffering from water shortages. Hamza loved his culture and his people. Through this well, his name will continue to bring goodness, life, and relief to others.
We chose to partner with Sadagaat USA (https://sadagaat-usa.org ), a trusted and well-established humanitarian organization known for building wells and supporting communities across Sudan. They operate transparently, with years of experience ensuring that donations go directly toward meaningful, life-changing projects. Their reliability gives us confidence that this well will be built properly and will truly benefit those who need it most. This is exactly the kind of impact Hamza would have wanted — something meaningful, life-changing, and filled with mercy.
We ask Allah to accept this Sadaqah Jariyah, fill Hamza’s grave with light, grant him forgiveness, mercy, and peace, raise him to the highest level of Jannatul Firdaus, and reward every person who donates, shares, or makes duaa. Ameen.
