Hi everyone! My name is Leah Fontaine and I am the founder of Build a Water Project. When I was a freshman, I learned about the water crisis. The water crisis is a problem in which billions around the world do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. Dirty water and unsanitary conditions lead to illnesses such as cholera, diarrheal diseases, respiratory infections, and more. Further, people affected by the water crisis often have to walk miles every day to collect water. The good news is that these problems are preventable, but we need to take action.
I started the nonprofit organization Build a Water Project to build a project that supplies clean water to a community in need. We are in partnership with YPSA in Bangladesh to build and repair around 85 wells, helping roughly 1000 people! We are also raising awareness about contamination in Bangladesh so that citizens know how to take action and stay safe. We need to raise around $10,000 to successfully complete the project. If you are interested in helping end the water crisis, please consider donating! To follow along on our journey or to volunteer with our nonprofit, check out our website: buildawaterproject.org. Thank you all!
