Build a Voice-Controlled AI OS in Oil City

For the past few months, from my home office in Oil City, I've been building something I've dreamed about for years—and it's finally real enough to share with my hometown first. It's called ThorOS: a free, open-source computer operating system you use entirely by talking to it. No menus to hunt through, no tech skills required. You just say what you want: 'I'd like to write a book—can you set things up so I can start?' and it creates your workspace and opens a writing program, ready to go. 'What's the weather?' 'Remind me before my appointment.' 'Open my photos.'

Why am I building it? For people who can't use a keyboard or mouse—injury, arthritis, tremor, paralysis—ThorOS gives back full, independent computer use, by voice alone. For folks who never felt computers were made for them—nothing to memorize, nothing to break. You just ask, the way you'd ask a person. And it's private—the AI runs on your own machine, not in some big-tech cloud. Nothing you say leaves your house.

It's not just an idea: since the first release in June, it's been downloaded by over 220 people, it has a growing online community, and it updates itself with new features almost every day. You can watch it working here: https://www.youtube.com/@YggdrasilAI —and the project lives at yggdrasilai.org.

Here's the honest part: I'm one person, and every feature and every demo video is made on one aging PC with a budget graphics card—and it's hit its limit for what the OS can now do (it can run several AI models at once… my machine can't). I've started a fundraiser to upgrade the computer and graphics card so I can keep building it and show it running the way it deserves.

It's hard in today's world to afford all the technology needed when you're working on forever free open-source software. I spend thousands of hours programming to help people who can't use traditional computers, and it quickly eats up a single person's funds. Your support means the world to me and will help me keep this project going.
