Build a Library & Reading Room for SisTers PGH
Donation protected
In December 2019, the SisTers PGH community center in Squirrel Hill was tragically lost to a fire . Last year, SisTers PGH began renovating a new drop-in center in Swissvale for trans and nonbinary people in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
A group of LGBTQIA+ affirming Presbyterian churches have been talking with founder and director Ciora Thomas about how we can contribute to the development of the new center. The two projects we've planned are 1) a library with reading room and 2) a spirituality room.
The SisTers PGH leadership has approved a list of books by Black, gay, and genderqueer authors for the library. And now we are ready to stock the library and furnish the reading room with bookcases, a comfy armchair and a reading lamp!
To finish the project we need an additional $700 for furniture and $1150 for books. 100% of the money received will be spent on furnishings and books, and all books will be purchased from The Tiny Bookstore , a Black-owned business in the Pittsburgh area.
SisTers PGH has asked us to have the reading room ready to serve drop-in visitors by the end of May. So if you're able to support this project financially, please contribute ASAP!
