My name is Jerome Yates, Chairman and President of Literacy, Knowledge and Dreams (LKD), Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to literacy, knowledge, and opportunity for underserved communities. Together with NZASA Montessori School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, we are building Library Kemet, a community library and digital learning center rooted in the belief that education is a transformative force capable of strengthening families, communities, and futures. At LKD, we believe the future is now — and literacy, knowledge, and dreams must be the path forward.

Library Kemet is the first LKD library designed to provide children and families with access to books, technology, and reliable internet—resources essential for educational advancement and economic mobility. It will serve 175 children and 50 adults daily, with the capacity to support the 8,000 residents in the surrounding community. The foundation, walls, roof, and windows are complete.
