Help me build a Library in Accra, Ghana

I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise $20,000 to build a library in Accra, Ghana, a place that left a huge mark on my heart.

About a year ago, I traveled to Ghana to volunteer as a teacher. I was only there in the summer, but it changed everything for me. The kids I met were so full of curiosity and excitement to learn, even though they had barely anything. There were no notebooks, no pencils, just a big chalkboard on the wall and some tiny pieces of chalk that kept breaking. Despite all of that, they showed up every day eager to soak up anything they could.

I wanted to make sure that I could still continue to help even after I left. I’ve always had big dreams of starting projects like this, and I truly have so many big ideas on how I'd like to help communities, but I knew I had to start somewhere small so I could see how things go and use it as a stepping stone to make a difference and learn from it and how I can help more in the future. I stayed in touch with the community, and when I asked what they felt they needed most, the answer was a library.

A quiet, safe space where kids can read, learn, and grow. A place where education feels possible, even with limited resources. It isn't just about books, it’s about hope, opportunity, and creating something lasting. So after a lot of conversation and planning, we came up with a goal of $20,000 to make it happen. This will cover the land, construction, shelves, books, school supplies, and everything we need to bring this dream to life.

This project is deeply personal to me, and it’s just the beginning. I hope this library becomes a learning opportunity not only for those who can use this library, but for me and others to learn even more ways to give back and support communities and for me, especially this community that welcomed me with open arms.
