When the world is bleak and stressors abound, everyone needs an artistic outlet for expression, and Just Arting Around provides that to small groups of individuals who seek fun, creative means of connecting and relaxing with friends and family. I teach folks to paint original works of art, providing them with all materials needed, including canvases, aprons, easels and paints. I have been bringing my private painting parties into individuals' homes for three years, and business is starting to really build exponentially. I am also often asked to host these parties myself, which I love to do, but my small house doesn't allow for this very easily. Frankly, people feel a bit like sardines packed around my dining room table.
Meanwhile, I have a PERFECT SPACE in my extra-large garage for a studio so I can host these parties for up to a dozen people and work on and/or display my own art, which has become popular at local exhibitions and art fairs.
All I need is to frame, insulate, and sheetrock one-third of my garage and add a pulldown ladder to reach storage space above. I've already acquired a base-board heater, window air conditioner, and ceiling fan and I have all the furniture I need. The biggest cost will be to dig a deep ditch to run water and waste lines from my house to the garage and back for a sink to use for cleaning up after paint classes. Any subsequent items, such as a laundry tub, I plan to obtain free or very cheaply through Craigslist or Freecycle. I am an excellent scrounger!
I would love to start construction on the studio by early spring, by the end of March, as soon as I can break up my patio and hire a plumber for the pipes' installation. My partner and I will do much of the work ourselves, although we'd more than welcome the help of experiences carpenters/handypersons who'd be willing to work for part pay/part barter.
Having a space to devote strictly to my art and my business will help me grow Just Arting Around, as well as my reputation as an artist/instructor. Earning more, I will be able to pay off enormous debts I've accrued from struggling to start life over after a divorce.
WHAT YOU GET OUT OF THE DEAL: Anyone contributing to my cause in the amount of $25 will receive a voucher for a FREE SEAT at a Just Arting Around painting party at their home, church or business site (normally $55). Each $25 additional pledged will add another free participant to join them at their private party! (Minimum 4 people, maximum 35.) Use them yourself or give them as gifts. Just Arting Around parties are fabulous for birthdays, bridal showers, work/community team-building activities, anniversaries, family reunions, etc.
Anything you can donate will be appreciated beyond measure. You can also expect DEEP DISCOUNTS on any of my original artwork, greeting cards, magnets, etc. FOR LIFE!!!
