Build a house for 8 orphans in Uganda

Donation protected
My friend Jonathan Mwosuko takes care of eight orphans in the Jewish community in Nasenyi, in Mbale, Uganda. He makes sure they go to school, have a parent figure and that they are fed and protected during vacation. Staying outside during the night is very dangerous in Uganda, particularly for girls.

Due to the floods last year, Jonathan’s house was destroyed and he and the children had to move. They found temporary shelter with a neighbor, but the situation is that they need a house of their own. They also need some furniture. The community was able to secure a new area, away from the river, to let Jonathan build a new home for himself and the orphans. The community has helped Jonathan with feeding the children when they are on vacation, but cannot afford to build the house for them.

The house will have two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and a dining area.

Please help – you will be helping to secure a good future for the children, enabling them to be safe during vacation and grow in a permanent home.

The Jewish community in Nasenyi is connected to me, Rabbi Nelly Altenburger, and Rabbi Jeremy Gerber, who provides Jewish adult education for them through Zoom. Below are photos of the old house and the new area, the children, the budget to build the house and the plans.

Rabbi Gerber and I will receive the receipts and post the pictures of the construction as it gets on its way. Thank you.

We are also asking US$ 1,000 to support the buying of beds for the kids, mosquito nets, pillows, sheets and warm blankets, as well as a table, chairs and a sofa. This extra money we hope will also cover the extra cost of the platform costs and money transfer.

Plans:

Below are photos of the children at the Hadassah Primary School and on vacation. These photos are from 2022, since then an eight child, Laila, from the clan Mwosuquo, has come to Jonathan's care after being abandoned by her older brother.

Please help us help those children have a secure place to call home. They have lost so much already, as they lost their parents once, and the place they used to call home twice.
