Hi my name is Dawn and I am fundraising for a bereavement centre in Donegal.
Loss has shaped my life in profound ways.
I have experienced child loss, a grief that changes you at your core, and in 2025 my father and best friend passed away. These losses did not simply pass through my life — they reshaped how I understand love, presence, and the deep need we have as humans to feel supported when the world no longer looks the same.
For over 20 years, I have walked alongside others through their bereavement as a holistic therapist and psychic medium. I have sat with parents, partners, children, and families in the rawness of loss — sometimes recent, sometimes decades old. What I have learned is this: grief does not run on a timeline, and healing cannot be rushed or forced.
I believe mediumship can be a powerful and transformative tool when used responsibly and grounded in care. It allows people to explore their relationship with their loved one in a new way — not to bypass grief, but to understand the change that has occurred and how to live forward with it. When combined with spiritual healing and hypnosis, this work can support deep emotional regulation, meaning-making, and reconnection with life itself.
The Vision: A Centre for Healing, Remembrance, and Hope
My dream is to open a bereavement and healing centre that supports people no matter how long it has been since their loved one passed.
The centre will offer a 3–6 session program that gently integrates:
* Mediumship
* Spiritual healing including Reiki and trauma recovery
* Hypnosis
This approach is grounded, ethical, and trauma-aware, designed to meet people where they are — not where they think they should be.
It will also offer a place for people to attend group events and other services that support people in feeling empowered in their life choices.
In 2023, I purchased a property with my partner and have been steadily preparing the land to become a therapeutic space.
This includes:
- A small chicken farm, offering a gentle connection with nature (already established and we sell eggs on our door step to the locals, which has been a major part of our integration into a new community)
- Calming outdoor zones (In creation and a large part of what 2026 entails)
- A Tree of Hope and Remembrance, where names, prayers, and memories can be placed
- A cat sanctuary for ferral cats (we already socialized and rehomed 13 cats in 2025)
In 2026, I am ready to take the next step — installing a temporary building so the work can expand while I raise funds for a permanent structure.
Who This Centre Is For
While grief is at the heart of this work, the centre will also support those struggling with addiction. During a trial run of this program in 2025, I successfully supported clients through both loss and addiction recovery. Grief and addiction often walk hand in hand, and compassionate, consistent support can make a life-saving difference.
Currently, services are offered on a donation basis, and in the future will move to a fixed but reduced cost, ensuring accessibility for those on low incomes.
Why This Matters So Deeply to Me
I live with disabilities and am the parent of five children. As a family, we have experienced a great deal, and I am deeply grateful to have them close to me at this stage of life — supporting me as I commit fully to this project.
Mental health is deeply impacted by loss. I understand, personally and professionally, the importance of feeling held, loved, and safe during grief. This centre is not about “fixing” anyone — it is about presence, dignity, and care.
I started my business in 2020 with just €50, and it carries no loans thankfully. However it has very littIe working capital. I give everything I can to keep its doors open. While it is a business in structure, it has always been much more than that — to me and to those who have trusted me over the years. I am releasing my first book in 2026 with proceeds going to further my vision.
Being primarily online for the past five years, due to health limitations and lack of premises this project represents a major part of my life’s work finally finding its physical home.
Looking Ahead
My long-term vision includes training others as healing facilitators, so this program can be modelled and offered in other locations, helping even more people find support through alternative grief and recovery.
I consider myself blessed in many ways, and this project has lived in my heart for over twenty years. It has taken time, patience, and resilience to reach this point.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Thank you for holding this vision with me.
And thank you, from the depths of my heart, for considering contributing to this dream and purpose.
Your donations are helping shape the landscapes here, and should enough be raised, place a building on site that accommodates the services I wish to offer. It will also help maintain it in the years to come.
We also welcome labor and anyone that has resources that would help with landscaping, site mainteance or simply volunteers willing to come and help out with our chickens.
Stay tuned to this space for progress updates.
