Hi, this is Shelly Tygielski, the founder of Pandemic of Love (we've been featured on over 100 media outlets, including CNN Heroes). Generally speaking, Pandemic of Love is a mutual aid organization which means we have never used the GoFundMe platform to raise funds for people in need. However, due to the nature of this request and for full transparency - we will be using this platform for the first time as an organization in order to assist the victims' families and survivors of the recent shooting in Buffalo, New York.

 

On a personal level, as someone who is from Broward County, Florida and who lived and continues to live through the aftermath of the tragic shooting at MSD High School in Parkland, Florida in 2018, I have dedicated a large portion of my life since that day to the trauma-informed healing of shooting victims in this country and to activism to ensure that no more people have to experience such a tragedy. The pain from such an experience never goes away.

 

This specific fund is going to be sent to the official gofundme  "Buffalo 5/14 Survivor Fund" which was set up in cooperation with TOPS and the National Compassion Fund. 100% of the fund is going to the families of the ten victims to help provide financial support for the families of victims and for survivors, and provide financial support for employees of the supermarket.

Our goal as a community - Pandemic of Love - is to raise $100k to contribute towards the $1M goal for the fund.

 

We will provide full transparency and proof of transfer once completed.
