Along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, the Gaza Strip spans about 25 miles from the Rafah crossing to the Northern border. The United Nations reports that 90% of Gazans (1.9 million people) have been displaced, often multiple times, often forced to flee on short notice on foot. In just the first four months of Israel’s siege, the number of children killed in Gaza surpassed the number of children killed in wars across the globe from 2019-2022. The Israeli Occupation Forces broke the ceasefire agreement on March 18th, 2025 and resumed its brutal, genocidal campaign in full force, increasing the (conservative) death toll estimate to over 50,000 people.
The Buffalo-Niagara Palestine Solidarity March follows the path of the Niagara River for the 25 miles from Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo to Prospect Point in Niagara Falls State Park. We hope that over the 25 miles, people marching will forge stronger connections with each other and the fight for a free Palestine, locally and globally. With breaks to rest, hydrate, sing, and pray, we're expecting the march to take a little over 12 hours.
This year we will be raising funds for Refugee Alliance International, a WNY-based and Palestinian-run organization funding humanitarian aid across Palestine. While RAI supports communities in the West Bank and provides food in the North of Gaza, our fundraising will focus on medical aid to evacuees. Last year we raised $6,000 together (as the Buffalo Ceasefire Pilgrimage). This year we are aiming higher, with our starting goal set at $9,000, the cost of an above-the-knee prosthetic leg for an evacuee.
We hope you will join us.
