Bue's Housing Emergency

Friends and Fam,

I am reaching out for help today because after nearly a decade, my building has been sold and I am at risk of losing my apartment. During the strike my previous landlord was incredibly supportive and understanding about back rent, but now things have changed. I don't want to lose my home.

Many of you know I have struggled with my health these past few years, I am a covid long hauler after experiencing severe covid pneumonia then an onset of related & unrelated health emergencies since. I also had a costly move in 2022 due to severe hurricane water damage in my previous home. Despite these challenges, I was able to make it on savings and freelancing as a working artist. However, since the strike, I have exhausted my savings. I am an independent person, a creative, and hardworking artist. I’ve worked tirelessly to build the life I want and develop a strong foundation for the life and career I seek. I've been EXTREMELY BLESSED to regain improved health, and work as an artist full time during the past two years. Unfortunately, due to the work stoppage last year I've gone through my savings without enough money to hold me over. It pains me to ask for help. But today, I have to set my ego aside because I need support.

I am asking for help to eliminate my back due rent, debt, and for necessary legal aid. My quality of life and mental health has diminished throughout the transition. Quietly carrying this has been a LOT on my spirit. Without the emotional support of my community right now, I probably wouldn't be sharing this.
