The Buena Vista County Historical Society has been a staple in the preservation of local and regional history since 1978. During a storm which wreaked havoc across Northwest Iowa on the morning of April 18th, the roof of the building was sheered off and major water damage was sustained to many of the precious historical artifacts. Decades of documents, books, and other antiquities are now nearly unsalvageable. The rain also did a number on the museums structure. However, all is not lost. With some time, a great deal of effort by the museum's staff, and help from the community, restoration is possible. We are seeking donations to help with cleaning and repair costs for water damage, tree limb removal, flooring removal, and roof repairs.
