Buea, eine mittelgrosse Stadt in Kamerun, braucht deine Hilfe dringend!

Am 18-19. März 2023 kam es infolge schwerer Regenfälle am Fuss des «Mount Cameroon» zu verheerenden Überschwemmungen und Erdrutschen. Einzelne Stadtteile von Buea wurden verwüstet. Reissende Schlammströme zogen Menschen, Häuser und Fahrzeuge in Mitleidenschaft.

Da die Regenzeit noch kaum richtig eingesetzt hat und bis November andauert, herrscht in Bueas Bevölkerung grosse Ungewissheit, ob sich die Lage noch weiter zuspitzen könnte.

Noch bleibt das Ausmass der Naturkatastrophe genauer einzuordnen. Tatsache ist, dass auch Todesopfer zu verzeichnen sind.

Etliche Kinder können nicht zur Schule und für Erwachsene ist der Weg zur Arbeit erschwert, weil nebst dem Verlust von Hab und Gut auch die Infrastruktur arg gelitten hat und Strassen teils unbefahrbar sind.

Die Bevölkerung von Buea ist somit dringend auf jegliche Unterstützung angewiesen.

Buea, a medium-sized city in Cameroon, needs your help urgently!

On 18-19 March 2023, heavy rains over Mount Cameroon caused devastating floods and landslides. Some wards in Buea were devastated. Torrents of mud and rocks caused severe damage to people, buildings and vehicles.

Since the rain season has barely started and is likely to last until November, there is great uncertainty among Buea's population as to whether the situation might deteriorate further.

The gravity of this natural disaster still needs to be assessed more accurately, though a number of casualties has already been recorded.

Many children cannot go to school and other affected inhabitants cannot reach work since - in addition to personal damages - the infrastructure has also suffered badly, causing some roads to become impassable.

The population of Buea is therefore in urgent need of support.
