Bud's first love is coaching HS Fast Pitch softball. When people hear you are from Strasburg, the first thing they associate it with is softball. Bud has been at the helm of the Lady Tigers softball program for 32 years and has accumulated over 722 career wins, making him the winningest softball coach in the state of Ohio. During that time he has won many awards and accolades, including leading the Lady Tigers to 27 Regional appearances, 11 State appearances and 7 State Championships, as well as being named the NHSCA National Softball Coach of the Year in 2016.

On November 6th, Bud had quadruple bypass surgery. Since surgery, he has had a rough recovery and many unexpected complications. One of the most devastating complications was the discovery he was allergic to a medication, which caused irreversible damage to his fingers and toes. Due to this damage, he had to have several amputations, including all the fingers on his left hand and the fingertips on his right hand, as well as the toes on his right foot and his left leg up to his knee.

We know the cost of his medical care to date is astronomical. Add in the cost of physical therapy, rehabilitation, home modifications and ongoing care and these costs can be catastrophic.

Bud is working hard to get back to the softball field. He has dedicated his life to supporting and developing hundreds of student athletes over the year. Now let's do our part and show our support for him.
