Buddy's Love Project

Donation protected
The Buddy's Love Project was born out of a chance encounter...  While returning a U-Haul back to the rental location in Liberty City, Florida, I was approached in the hot sun by a bedraggled, tired and thirsty looking street dog.  He stared up at me as if he was asking to be saved.  His big golden eyes were extremely expressive. His coat, although filthy, was beautiful reddish and white.  I knew if I turned my back on this dog it was almost certain he would die on the street.  I made a snap decision and let him get in to the back of my car.  I had to push him from behind because he was too weak to jump in by himself.  We cleaned over 200 ticks off of him during the next couple of days.  He has had ongoing health concerns from his time on the streets.  More telling were  the scars we found all over him;  A chunk of his right ear was missing, he had puncture wounds on his cheek, a scar by his eye, and numerous scars on his neck and forelegs.  This dog had been abused at a very young age as he was only around 9 months when he found me. He had been used in some kind of format where he was repeatedly attacked or forced to try to fight and defend himself.  It took a lot of medical care , discipline and love, but Buddy became the most loving and loyal dog ever.  He lives to be close to us and to give and receive affection.  He looks after his little 10 lb sister dog and plays with her all the time, never causing her harm, although he is a giant compared to her.
This project is being launched to empower rescue agencies so they can continue to rescue and care for these dogs and to make sure they are cleaned up and medically healthy when it's time to adopt. We realize most people aren't going to put a strange street dog in their car to take home "just because."  We are commited to shining a light on this problem in our communities and outlying areas.  Dogs, especially "bully" breeds, are used for nefarious purposes, mistreated and often abandoned.  These animals want one thing: To be part of a loving home and family.
Finally, it is our intention to support the repeal of "breed specific legislation;"   Laws that ban specific breeds.  These laws are poor solutions to irresponsible pet ownership and frought with untruths and misconceptions.  This project is born out of  the possibility of love and companionship, not only for the pet, but also for the adoptive family.  These animals are amazing and loving.  They literally become part of your family and the bond that is created is impossible to put into words.
Please join us and support our efforts.  Our first event will take place in December 2015.  We need immediate funding to secure a venue for it.  We have several locations in Broward County, Florida in mind.  We are currently raising funds to pay for the park and create the event.  We take NO money from the rescues.  Our job is to support their intentions and have their dogs find homes.  We are hoping to create lasting and loving relationships so that every dog gets to give love and receive love just like Buddy.

We are aiming to raise the first $700 by Monday, October 12, 2015, to secure the location.
All other funds raised will go towards event expenses and donations to the rescue organizations that we will be working with.
