Buddy’s Cancer Surgery

Buddy joined our family on April 13, 2021. On May 28th, he will go under for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on his chest.

Buddy was rescued from an abusive shelter in South Korea and given a second chance thanks to the Joey & Bailey Foundation. After traveling for over 13 hours via plane and car, Buddy finally got to his new home with us!

At our first vet trip to get him checked out, we were told Buddy has cancer. 

We were shocked! He had been vetted in South Korea by a doctor and they didn’t spot his cancer. Luckily we were told we caught it early and it’s a very common cancer for his breed. But this also means we were hit with an unexpected bill for surgery. 

With a wedding later this year - we are hoping Buddy can help walk us down the aisle - this also means our budget wasn’t prepared at this moment. And since he likely had this cancer before coming over here, insurance considers it a pre-existing condition and won’t help with costs.

We hate to ask for help but anything is greatly appreciated to make sure Buddy lives a long, healthy doggie life here in California!

I've added the vet bill below so you can see exactly where the money will be going. His surgery is scheduled for the morning of Friday, May 28.

A little about Buddy - he is the BEST dog! He loves treats, walks, even more treats people, kids, and any dog he can get close enough to sniff. He’s a great working buddy - he’ll lay right next to you all day. He’s also an early riser, so his dad has been getting up extra early these days to take him for nice, long walks. He looks like he’s always smiling, so he must love his new home :) He is so chill and honestly a dream dog to have. We hope he will be around our family for many, many more years with the help of this surgery.
