Buddy’s Bark for Help: A Rescue Dog’s Second Chance

Donation protected

Hi, I’m Rachel—and I’m fundraising for my beautiful rescue dog, Buddy.

Buddy’s a Black Lab/Shephard mix and spent the first two years of his life caged, neglected, and isolated on a porch. Now he’s at a new level of safety & security but we can’t do it alone.

I’m experiencing a medical crisis which has me on medical leave since Feb 15. Buddy’s most immediate need is his $90 doctor-advised calming supplement which reduces anxiety and barking and allows him to pay better attention during training sessions.

If 16 people could share $5 I’d be able to get Buddy’s refill on Monday, April 21.

When I rescued him at age 2, he didn’t know how to walk, climb, play, or even splash in puddles. But since coming into my life, Buddy’s world has opened up. He’s discovered rain, hikes, balls, and cuddles—and he now runs up to 35 km/hour, gives gentle kisses to his dog-sister Chloe, and pulls my hand close when he wants affection. He’s gentle. He’s loyal. He’s family.

But despite all his progress, Buddy is misunderstood because of his bark and size. He’s been wrongly labeled as aggressive, even though a veterinarian who’s cared for him for over a year confirms he’s not a dangerous dog. He just needs the right training, tools, and support.

I’m asking for help to cover:
• Specialized training to help him adjust to the outside world
• Medication and vet visits to ensure his health and safety
• A proper harness and walking tools
• Food and care essentials
• Gas and travel costs to get him the support he needs

We’ve come so far, but we can’t do this next part alone.

Help me rally a loving community around him so that the world stops seeing him as a threat—and starts seeing him as the brave, joyful soul he really is.

Every donation helps. Even $5 makes a difference.

Buddy’s Healing Fund: From Cage to Community

He needs:
• Monthly medication
• Updated vaccines
• Specialized training and supplies
• Travel to safe socialization locations
• Food and enrichment to reduce anxiety
• And vet care to confirm he’s not a dangerous dog—just misunderstood.

Our Goal

We’re not just trying to “keep Buddy.”
We’re trying to help him thrive—so he can become the calm, happy dog I know he is inside.

He’s already come so far.
Now it’s time for the community to meet him, love him, and help him become the dog he was always meant to be.

Even $5 helps more than you know.
And if you can’t donate, sharing Buddy’s story is a gift in itself.

Thank you for helping Buddy keep becoming

With deep thanks,
Rachel & Buddy
