BUDDY NEEDS SPECIALIST VET INVESTIGATIONS AND TREATMENT

My name is Sue and I manage the fundraising for Scruffy Dog Rescue Shropshire (SDR), UK.

Let me introduce you to and tell you a story about Buddy.

Four years ago, this beautiful little dog who was named Rolo, arrived at Scruffy Dog Rescue Shropshire and it wasn’t long before he was adopted into a loving family who absolutely adore him. The family renamed him Buddy.

Buddy has blossomed with his new family, who care for him in every which way including having pet insurance.

In mid-November, about 3 weeks ago, Buddy became unwell and was taken to his local vet who did various tests, revealing a tiny amount of anti-freeze in his system which of course is dangerous for dogs. It’s thought he may have walked in anti-freeze then licked his paws. His vet has also indicated that the symptoms of his kidneys not working well may be due to a disease called Leishmaniasis. But the vet hasn’t done a blood test for this. He has had many tests, assessments and anti-biotics but he is still unwell.

Buddy’s owner popped a post on the Scruffy Dog Rescue Shropshire Facebook page and this was when SDR flew into action as it was the first we had heard of Buddy’s health problem.

SDR have arranged for Buddy to see our specialist vet early next week for a full set of tests including Leishmaniasis if they too suspect this condition. Leishmaniasis can be treated.

Buddy needs to travel a considerable distance to SDR’s vet, he will have several tests, possibly scan or X-ray, and full assessment. The family’s vet visits have used up all the insurance cover, yet no solution has been found for Buddy’s condition.

So this is where we are reaching out to the wider Scruffy Dog Rescue Shropshire family, to help us fund the medical procedures needed to get Buddy well again.

Let’s get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan before Christmas.

Buddy’s initial appointment with the specialist is on Monday 9th December. So come on everyone, friends and dog lovers, adopters and future adopters, let’s do this for Buddy and give his family hope for Christmas.
