Buddy's Story:  Buddy was born on October 2, 2012 with his mom having an emergency C-Section and Buddy along with his brother were in distress via ultra sound prior to surgery and his sister not quiet in distress yet. I think all the staff, vet and myself our eyes grew bigger as Buddy and his brother were shy of 2# each. But other than being big at birth he seemed well.
A few weeks past and he had odds against him again by getting an infection in one of his elbows which was pretty bad and we almost lost him for the second time. But being the strong boy he is he conquered that also.
Even with a rough start that didn't stop Buddy from anything, he could run so fast and a huge smile on his face.
This past fall I noticed he was having a hard time walking and needed help down the stairs to go outside, he wasn't running and playing with the other family dogs like he had been. He has needed help to get up in a standing position and he falls a lot when trying to walk and when he does sometimes his back end will curve as if he's in an U Shape, then other times he's able to walk and stand real well, plus get up by himself.

Watching Buddy's decline breaks this moms heart, Buddy is such a happy, sweet boy and he just lays all day, moves around by sliding himself in a different position unless I can get to him to help.
So the funds raised for Buddy will be used for the next couple steps which from his consultation at the U of M Veterinary Clinic last week with a neurologist he needs to have a MRI to know exactly what is causing this stemming from Buddy's neck.
If it should show a bulging disc is an easy fix and Buddy will get back to what he had been doing running and playing with others. Another diagnosis could be Wobbler Syndrome or official medical word is Cervical spondylomyelopathy. This is a disease of the cervical spine at the neck. CSM is a compression of the spinal cord and/or nerve roots, which leads to neurological signs and/or neck pain (which Buddy suddenly got and would scream out in pain). Which will be a longer recovery period.
The term wobbler syndrome is used to describe the characteristic wobbly gait (walk) that affected dogs have.

The MRI is $2200.00 and surgery is at least $6000.00 and then the follow up appointments how ever many may be requested.
I am started Buddy's fundraiser immediately as the consultation was $214.00 and the neurologist wants the MRI scheduled for next week and I want to be able to do it but we don't have those extra funds to do it by then but I don't want to delay getting Buddy back to be able to run like the wind again.

As I mentioned Buddy had a rough start in life and that's when I decided I was not going to let him go to a forever home at 8 weeks old, Buddy was already at his forever home. Buddy is my special little miracle and I tell him that every night at bedtime. He want to be right by my side on the bed after getting help onto the bed and help getting off.
I can't express in words how much I love this little guy, Buddy brings so much joy to everyone with his sweet personality and he loves to reach up, stand on his back legs and give mom hugs and kisses and it saddens and hurts seeing his will to still do this but can't. Buddy is my life.
It doesn't seem fair that someone that has unconditional love for me and everyone has to go through something like this or any illness, it's unimaginable heartbreaking pain watching him go through this.
He has taught me so much by not letting life stop him when obstacles come in his way.  I don't know what I would do without my little Buddy in my life, he brings joy, a happy heart and completeness to me, he is one of a kind, I love Buddy always and forever and will never give up on him.

I will and am very thankful in advance for you helping Buddy receive the tests and treatments that he needs so he is able to live the life he loves for many, many years to come. My heart is full of gratitude that you will consider giving to Buddy's Cause, those of you that know Buddy and those of you that don't, I am appreciative of each and everyone of you!
Thank you!
