Hi everyone, this is Mike Walsh, known to a number of you as Shaggy. Unfortunately, in the past 4 years, life has taken a tremendous downturn for me. After being laid off from Verizon in 2021 and then getting divorced in 2023, my life has taken a dramatic downturn.

Since 2022, I have only worked a total of 14 months out of the last 45 months in my career as a Technical Project Manager. To keep up with some of my bills, I've DoorDashed, worked a background acting job, and worked as a part-time retail associate. This has allowed me to keep the lights on and stay fed. However, I am now experiencing a debilitating medical issue that leaves me unable to perform physical work. I am currently way behind on my mortgage, so being able to pay for a medical issue at this point is impossible.

I am in desperate need of help. I am currently unemployed and am collecting unemployment benefits but have no health benefits. I saw a doctor months ago and was told I have a torn rotator cuff. Within the past two weeks, it has gotten seriously worse, and I am in constant, excruciating pain. I don't know where else to turn. The surgery, depending on complexity, will run anywhere from $5,000-50,000.

I really appreciate anything you can do to help me, even though I am absolutely ashamed to have to ask for handouts. I'm hoping that the karma of being charitable comes back around.
