Hi, my name is Lana, sister to Laura and sister-in-law to Budd Anderson. I have taken some time to come to Victoria to be of some help during a time in need. Watching the unexpected costs of needed meds, equipment and transportation (Laura doesn’t drive) to provide the necessities is unimaginable.

This has been posted with the family’s approval, The Anderson’s (Budd and Laura) never reach out for a helping hand or assistance in anyway, now they need your help.

what was thought to be a routine check up for a minor toothache turned out to be something that would impact their lives forever. We’ve heard of the challenges and struggles one goes through to keep up with the every day. Non-negotiable of such a diagnosis, but no one tells you the cost of the supplies and medications needed to help with the pain and symptoms while going through radiation and chemotherapy.

In May 2025, Budd was diagnosed with cancer “P16 positive squamous cell carcinoma” it’s metastasized in both sides of his neck, along with the lymph nodes, resulting in his inability to speak; unable to eat or drink through the mouth and only through a G-tube is this possible. When a carotid artery burst due to the size and pressure of the tumor, he required a trachea which he has just been advised could be permanent.

This journey is and has been a difficult one with what seems to have no end in sight. The medical costs and attention to everyday needs required to ensure Budd gets the hands-on care he requires to stay on track in his fight. Laura has had to take a leave of absence without pay from her job putting more financial strain on the couple.
