In June of 2015, our 59-year-old father, Ralph Dupuy was diagnosed with Oropharyngeal cancer. In one terrifying instant, we were all torn apart, and could not imagine watching him suffer.
Ralph is a fun loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who loves singing country music, hunting, fishing and MOST of all, spending time with his loved ones. He loves to reminisce and tell fishing stories, laugh and joke around.
Over the past several months he has only taken a turn for the worse. And if nothing changes, it will only get worse from here. When originally diagnosed, he was approximately 165 to 170 pounds. He is now down to 130 pounds and his weight has continued to drop, due to him not being able to eat. We are in week two of radiation and it is burning the inside of his throat making it hard to swallow causing dry mouth , thick saliva, and mouth sores. He is not able to swallow or hold anything down when he is able to eat. He has become extremely weak and stays in bed most of the day. He himself has requested a feeding tube due to the effects of chemo/radiation. In the last week he has also suffered violent shakes due to his stress and anxiety. He has to do exercises for his mouth so that he doesn't loose the ability to move his jaw, talk, swallow or turn his head. They are critical exercises!!
Recently, he has had to move to Houston to be closer to the hospitals for on-going treatments. He has no source of income coming and has had to turn his privately owned "small business"which he's worked so hard to maintain over the years to another individual. His wife Jewel Dupuy has also put in a leave of absence at her job to be by his side and support him during his fight .
Our Goal
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help support him during this battle.
**All donations will go towards medical expenses and housing costs to live in Houston while he recieves his treatment and also to maintain his residence in Beaumont, TX so that when he does beat this battle he can finally go home and be at peace.
