Bucks 4 Bailey
Don protégé
On Monday May 30th, Bailey Johnson, was celebrating Memorial Day like many of us do, spending the day on Lake Norman hanging out with family & friends. The day took a frightning turn when the boat Bailey and 4 other friends were on, suddenly exploded. According to witnesses, four people were seen jumping from the boat before it engulfed in flames. The fifth person, Bailey, was blown off the boat by the force of the explosion. Luckily, wildlife officials were nearby and witnessed the explosion, they were able to pull all 5 people from the water. They rescued Bailey just as she was sinking into the lake water. She was badly burned and having trouble breathing.
Bailey was airlifted to the Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center where she is being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 43% of her body. BUT SHE IS ALIVE and although the road to recovery is going to be long, and painful, she will heal in time. The burns she sustained cover her entire body, including her arms, legs, chest, & face. The worst of those burns being her hands and legs, both areas that will require several surgeries for skin grafting. She will remain in the Burn ICU for quite some time, being unabe to work and pay for her living expenses. The medical bills are going to be astronomical, but it is what is required to sustain her life.
What we are asking via this fundraiser is help to pay Bailey's living costs while she focuses on healing, help to pay the medical bills that are accumulating rapidly, and most importantly help to allow her family to continue to be by her side at Wake Forest , which is almost an hour and a half from where they live. Any donation is greatly appreciated, even if you can only give a few dollars, every penny counts.
Please continue to pray for Bailey. She is not out of the woods just yet. The risk for infection is real, the pain is grueling, and the road to recovery is going to prove a treacherous one. We praise our God for sparing her life that day and we ask that He continue to protect her in the days ahead. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Your love, support, prayers & generosity mean the world to Baily & her friends/family during this difficult time.
