Bucks for the Boers

Hi, my name is Lisa, and I’m fundraising for my friends, the Boers family. The Boers family are Clinton, Ally and their 3 children Michael (11), Lachlan (10) and Abel (7). On the 20th August, Clinton experienced a medical episode which nearly claimed his life, and resulted in him being airlifted to Canberra Hospital. Suddenly and unexpectedly the course of the Boers family’s lives had changed forever.

Clinton was very swiftly diagnosed with a Glioblastoma tumour. After emergency brain surgery, he is now undertaking radiation and chemotherapy, which involves him taking an almost 4 hour round trip journey from his home to the nearest wellness centre, 5 days per week.

Prior to all of this taking place, the Boers had only recently moved into their dream rural property, in the foothills of the snowy mountains. Unfortunately with Clinton’s diagnosis, he is now facing a long period of recovery and reduced work.

At 42, Clinton is young, fit and otherwise healthy. He is far too young to have this type of cancer. The specialists have indicated that he would be a good fit for any trials which may come up - so the Boers family will need to give everything to this fight. It is my dream to ensure that this period of the Boers family life is free from the burden of financial pressure, and that they can focus on wellness, togetherness, and recovery.
