BUCKETS 4 BRANDON

On March 29,2018 Brandon's 21 year old life was changed forever. He was visiting a friend on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he became the victim of an awful college prank that has left him paralyzed from the neck down. Two unknown suspects asked him if he was from the area, and when he responded no, they asked him if he wanted to take a survey. He thought it was harmless and said sure. He was only asked one question. They asked him how much would it take for him to jump in the river. Brandon, assuming that it was harmless, agreed to do it for $50. One of the guys said, well I have $50 on me right now. Brandon responded, okay, I'll just jump in right here, which meant from where he was already sitting. The guy then tells him, no, you have to go to the end, I would do it myself, but I can't swim. Brandon, still believing that it is just a normal river, and being able to see ships off in the distance, and there not being a single sign of danger, runs to the end of the dock, and dives in. He floated to the top of the water face down. Not only was the water shallow, but the river is an underwater dump sight for those ships and barges that you see off in the distance, but if you are not from the area, you would have NO WAY of knowing this information. Needless to say, one of the guys slipped some folded bills to one of the young ladies that Brandon was with, and then disappeared into the crowd. The money was later found to be counterfeit, and was turned over to local law enforcement. No one has been charged in the case. Brandon now needs 24 hour care, 7 days a week. He is now able to breathe on his own and is alert and oriented to everything that has happened, but he can't feed himself, bathe himself, dress himself, he can't perform any of his own basic needs. He has severe injuries that require several different specialists, and needs transportation to and from. We are now trying to raise funds to purchase a conversion van that will accommodate Brandon and his 6ft 8in frame inside of an electric wheelchair. Not only will this purchase help us get him back and forth to doctors' appointments, but we can begin to take him other places that he used to enjoy, and get him out of isolation by just being at home all of the time. Brandon enjoyed life to the fullest before this accident. He had just returned home from a spring break trip to Miami. We are doing all that we can to keep his spirits high, and being able to get out of the house would really be a blessing to his young life. Thank you in advance for your time and your help!
