For almost 20 years now I have been wrenching / working on dirtbikes and riding a little bit in between fixing everyone's bike to get them back on the trail. I have worked on several bikes / teams going down to Baja to race or ride, I have been asked quite a few times to go down to help pit and fix any issues. Due to lack of funds, not the right time or having other bikes to fix. Going to Mexico was never in the cards. I have spent all of my motorcyle career helping others ride and not taking the time to ride myself. So 2017 I will be turning 40, I am not getting any younger, skinnier or better looking. This year I got invited to ride in the NORRA Mexican 1000 on a team and I said yes this time. NORRA "National Off Road Racing Association" has been putting on races down in Baja for 50 years. 2017 is their 50th year, over 1000 miles, 5 days of racing starting in Ensenada and ending in San Jose Del Cabo. We are running a 3 man team on a 2004 Kawasaki KX500 that we have been building for the past few months. The bike has just about every new part you can put on it and an extra of each part going in the truck. So the bike should make it over 1000 miles, it's just if the riders can make it. I will be closing my shop from the 19th of April to at least May 1st or 2nd depending onthe flight back. As a lot of you know my shop is small and I don't make a million dollars fixing bikes it's feels more like I run a charity for broken bikes. Taking almost two weeks off with no income, hotel rooms, meals and the flight back is going to be expensive. So please help an old dirt bike rider check off part of a bucket list to race / ride all the way down the Baja.
