Help me support Bobby through his Bone Marrow Transplant Journey.

Hello, my name is Vicki and I am reaching out during one of the most challenging times of my young son's life!! This will be the hardest challenge my son has ever faced. (It will also be the same for his younger brother and myself, along with beloved family and friends)

My son Bobby, who is an incredible soon-to-be- 15-year-old, was diagnosed with a Bone Marrow Disease called Short Telomere Syndrome (STS). This is a very rare, genetic bone marrow disease.

While we reside in Pittsburgh, PA, Bobby will be having a BMT on October 2, 2025 in Philadelphia, PA (over 300 miles away from home, family and friends). We are extremely grateful for the BMT team at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and all the medical staff providing this life-saving procedure.

There are many unexpected (and expected) expenses associated with his treatment. The road ahead is daunting in many ways!! Some of these expense include (but are not limited to): travel back and forth from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia for mom to be with her son during this difficult time (and for family to visit once permitted (gas, tolls, vehicle maintenance and other travel expenses), food, hospital and hotel stays, and down the road extensive post-transplant care (home nurses and care while mom is at work, air purifiers and other medical necessities). Also to cover for loss of wages mom may face during missed times from both of her jobs. (FMLA does not cover pay).
