Bubba's fight against Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kerie Ann, and I am fundraising for my brother Jerry aka Bubba. In 2013 my brother had a headache that would not go away. After a visit to the local ER, he was sent immediately to Baptist Health in Paducah. He had a brain tumor. He underwent a craniotomy, radiation and chemotherapy.

Bubba, as we call him, went to every follow-up appointment thereafter. On July 7th, 10 years after his last chemo treatment, we went for his routine scan. Only this time, it wasn't the comments we usually get. Instead, they shared with us that they see something that has changed over time and they are going to share the findings with the tumor board on Monday. The phone call came in with a unanimous decision for a biopsy.

Back to Louisville we traveled, which included a trip up for the MRI and another trip up for the biopsy. We waited a week for the next follow-up appointment only to learn that the cancer is back. At that time they couldn't give us a grade type or how to treat because one more test result had not yet come back.

On August 18th we received the news. Aggressive Grade 3 Astrocytoma. During our consults with the Neuro-Oncologist and Neurosurgeon, we learned that Bubba will be off work for a minimum of 6 weeks. After we have a successful surgery; radiation and chemotherapy will be the next set of treatments.

Bubba is the breadwinner for his family despite having disabilities from his brain cancer in 2013. He has been working part-time at an auto part store to keep a little extra money in his pocket to help pay bills. After August 31st, that little bit of money will not be there.

His wife of 32 years is a homemaker. They have raised their children and now are raising four of their grandchildren. In 2021 her health turned and she was placed on dialysis. Needless to say, a lot is going on but they have managed.

Our Dad passed away from lung cancer in 2018 and then our Mom passed away in 2021 from lung cancer. Losing parents is awful, and not having them around when you are going through hard times to tell you that it will be ok is rough.

Bubba and his family need your support. Any money donated will be used to pay bills and keep his family going until he can get back to his part-time job. Any amount you're willing to contribute is greatly appreciated, and if you aren't able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
