We hate asking our friends for money, but we love our cat more than anything in the world. Next week, Bubba is scheduled to have some major dental work done, as his teeth are getting very bad. Maine Coons are a notoriously bad breed for tooth decay, and ours is no exception.
Bubba is 6 years old and still a very happy and healthy cat despite this. He hides his discomfort well and is still the same affectionate cat with a large personality. However, we want him to continue to be happy and have the best quality of life possible. So we know that we have to bite the bullet on this very expensive procedure.
While we do have pet insurance, the cost we were quoted for is to the tune of $6,500. Neither one of us makes very much money, so making sure that we can cover this upfront cost is crucial. We're hoping that our insurance company is feeling particularly generous and that our quote is on the higher end of what this might cost us. That being said, we want to be prepared for what this could cost us. We realize that a lot of this cost will have to be paid for on a credit card. Our hope is that by fundraising, we can offset, or at least minimize the debt we will incur from these expenses.
We are really lucky to have the support that we do have from our friends and family. We know how much you all love Bubba and we relly want to thank you for any support or help you have given us.
For anyone donating $25 or more, I will give you a silkscreen print of a drawing I made of us with Bubba earlier this year.
Anyone donating more than $50, I will make you a drawing of Bubba.
We are grateful for any help, thank you.
Andrew, Anna and Bubba
