Friends,
As many of you are already aware, our Dad has been diagnosed with end stage/terminal lung disease, and his condition has progressed to a point where he needs round the clock care. He's on hospice, and the goal at this point is to make things as comfortable as possible and to allow him to spend as much quality time with our Mom as he can. Simple tasks we take for granted such as showering, making a meal, getting the mail, or getting dressed are some of the hardest things for someone in end stage/terminal lung disease to accomplish. We would like our Mom to be able to stay home and care for him. While Mom's insurance is helping with medical expenses, there are some expenses it doesn't cover, and she's not getting paid at all and therefore has no income to cover basic costs while she's home caring for Dad. Medical care is extraordinarily expensive and it's tough to keep up.
We don't love being in a position to have to turn to our friends and family for help, but we don't have a lot of good options at this point. In addition to the care he needs now, the reality is that the family is eventually going to need help in other respects, assisting our Mom in transitioning to a different phase of her own life, and other related costs. It's all very overwhelming, at a time when we're already overwhelmed with concern for our family.
With that in mind, we are asking for your help. Literally anything you can do would be appreciated more than you can imagine. In addition to helping to offset the expense associated with this kind of medical care, it will also provide some peace of mind that will allow us to enjoy our remaining time with our Dad as much as possible.
We truly appreciate your consideration, and thank you for any help you're able to provide.
Love, Jenna and Josh
