Hi, my name is Megan I am the sister-in-law of Zach and have been a friend to Zach for years before becoming family. On 9/28/21 Zach, his wife Chelsea and son Logan all tested positive for COVID 19. The family attempted to recover at home like most people that tested positive but on Wednesday 10/6/21 Zach took a drastic turn for worst and oxygen levels dropped severely low, he struggled to breathe and was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. When arriving to the hospital he was immediately placed on 8L of oxygen and rushed to the COVID unit were he stayed for 2 days and then took another drastic decline and was sent to the COVID ICU. Once in the COVID ICU he was immediately placed on a bipap machine on hiflow oxygen in order to prevent him from potentially having to be put onto a ventilator. Zach remains in the ICU at this current time and has not made any significant improvements and his medical status has remained unchanged on bipap machine for the past couple days. Zach's wife Chelsea has received calls from his nurses and doctors stating it is going to be a very long road for him and don't know when he will even begin to start weaning off the bipap or begin to start a true recovery to better health. Zach is the sole financial provider for their family as his pregnant wife must stay home to take care of their 3 year old son with special needs who requires 24/7 care. Therefore, him being off work for almost a month already has began to put a large financial strain and burden on an already stressful situation especially with all the unknown future expensive with medical bills that are accumulating. It is unclear when, if or how Zach will be able to return to his physically demanding job and much assistance will be needed throughout his recovery. I know these unprecedented times are hard on most with this never ending pandemic but any little bit you can give to help this family would be greatly appreciated.
