A few weeks ago our dear momma Kathy noticed that she was feeling a little beside herself. Though she thought it might be something minor, the pain was bothersome enough that she decided to go the doctor to get checked out. After some blood tests and a CT scan, Kathy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Needless to say, we were all shocked. The symptoms presenting could have just as easily been for issues with the gall bladder. Further scans revealed accumulating fluid around her lungs and abdomen, which has needed to be drained a few times since the diagnosis.
After running all the necessary tests and prep, Kathy was able to start chemo on Wednesday 9/15 and has been set on a treatment schedule with surgery to follow. With the uncertainty of the how the treatment will affect her day to day, what is certain is the financial burden that comes along with these types of diagnoses.
To ensure that Kathy’s energy is 100% dedicated to her treatment and recovery, we want to the associated costs to be the furthest thing from her mind. Anything and everything helps. We are confident that with plenty of time to recover and the absence of stress, Kathy will be running around like we know her to be: cooking up a huge Thanksgiving lunch for everyone, dancing the night away to some Chris Stapleton, and playing with her new best friend, Eva.
For the woman (mama bear) who has taken care of us all in some form or fashion, she now needs us to take care of her.
Collected funds will be applied toward deductibles, out of pocket medical expenses, and expected time away from work for treatment and recovery.
Love you all,
Sawyer and Navarro Family
