Kick Grant's Cancer!

Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe to KICK GRANT'S CANCER!!!!

For those of you that don't know, around the first week of April 2018, Grant was diagnosed with Large B-Cell, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Grant is 21 years old and lives on the Southside of Chicago. He attended St. Cajetan’s Grade School and St. Laurence High School and prior to the diagnosis he was attending College and working at local paint shop.

Grant's journey to his diagnosis started in early Winter of 2017. He wasn't feeling well and was forced to reduce his work hours and eventually stop working all together due to what he thought was severe pneumonia. Due to having no health insurance, Grant was visiting various clinics to try and get better. After a handful of visits and multiple antibiotics, one clinic suggested he get a chest X-ray. The results of the X-ray showed something more than pneumonia and they suggested he go to the Emergency Room.

After arriving at the Emergency Room, Grant was quickly diagnosed with cancer and multiple scans revealed he had a large tumor located in the center of his chest cavity and one lung was completed deflated. This all contributed to Grant’s severe cough and loss of weight that led him to clinic in the first place.

Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, the doctors insisted Grant start chemotherapy immediately. Within a week, he started a 5 day, 24-hour chemo treatment in the hospital. Since his first treatment, Grant has had many complications and additional hospital visits. Although the tumor was shrinking, it caused complications by creating a hole in his esophagus. Due to the hole in the esophagus, Grant has had to endure multiple procedures and surgeries which ultimately led to the insertion of a gastrointestinal feeding tube in his stomach.

Grant is currently still going through chemo treatments and managing the hole in his esophagus which makes it extremely difficult for him to breath and talk. Luckily, through all of this, Grant’s mother, Elizabeth (Lisa) Grant has had to stay with him and give him the 24-hour care that he needs, but at great sacrifice. As a single-mother, she is unable to work because Grant needs to constant care. Due to extreme weight loss and low oxygen levels, Grant is unable to care for himself even in the comfort of his own home. Even the walk from his bed to the bathroom is exhausting.

We hope with this GoFundMe, we will be able to help offset some of the daily costs associated with Grant’s care. This will include medical bills, cell phone bill, gas to and from the hospital, feeding tube supplies, medical products, and just general costs to ensure that Grant always has a house to come home to after his hospital stays.

Please feel free share this with family, friends, co-workers, or strangers! Any little bit will help Grant and his family conquer this challenge! On the behalf of his family, we thank you for visiting this page and thank you for your generous donation! Every little bit makes a difference.
