Help Kevin Heal
Donation protected
Hello friends & loved ones. As many of you know, our beloved Kevin has been disabled for the past two years, suffering from chronic back pain and serious spine issues. After attempting every possible treatment option, his surgical team has now scheduled him for major reconstructive surgery on September 12. This will involve two surgeries actually, wherein his vertebrae from T10 all the way down will be fused and reinforced with metal hardware. He'll be in hospital for 5 - 7 days, then be either transferred to a rehab facility for a couple of weeks or sent home, depending on his progress. Fortunately, his sister Karen will be taking care of him for at least the first three weeks after surgery.
Kevin has been receiving Social Security disability benefits since January. These benefits cover his rent and a portion of his monthly bills, but that's it. He's left with about $1200 that he must come up with every month to cover the remainder of his bills and food. And this is before medical expenses. Since January, Kevin has relied on the kindness of friends and family to help bridge the gap. Since his Social Security benefits are approximately $140 over the medical (medicaid) limit, he must also pay his insurance premiums, as well as co-pays and prescription costs.
Our primary goal in reaching out to you is to help relieve Kevin's stress and worry over his 3 - 6 month convalescence. We want his energy & concern to be focused solely on healing, not on how to make ends meet while laid up.
The funds we're requesting will go toward covering his monthly bills, food costs, expenses related to his dog - including dog walking - and his medical co-pays, insurance premiums and prescription costs. The costs for the procedure itself, hospital stays and physician costs have not been considered, but any extra donation received beyond this request will help allay these costs as well.
"Having to ask for help like this is a humbling experience to say the least. I can only say that being in this position makes me strive to pay it forward in whatever way I can."
We thank you in advance for your kind contribution.
