The British Tamil Dental Association (BTDA) is proud to be returning to Sri Lanka in the summer of 2027 for our third volunteering project. Our team of dental students and qualified dentists will be working together to give back to our homeland by providing free dental care and oral health education to communities with limited access to treatment, with the aim of creating healthier smiles and making a lasting impact.

Our team will be visiting orphanages, schools, care homes and local communities, providing treatments such as fillings alongside dental screenings, oral health advice and preventative care. Through this work, we hope to improve not only oral health, but also confidence, wellbeing and quality of life.

This project builds on the success of our previous BTDA volunteering trips in 2023 and 2026, where our incredible volunteers helped more than 1000 people by providing dental care, education and essential oral hygiene support. Every donation will go directly towards the project, helping us purchase essential supplies including toothbrushes, toothpaste, fluoride products, oral hygiene kits, educational materials, PPE and other equipment needed to deliver care safely and effectively. Your support will also help us transport these supplies to the communities we visit and maximise the number of people we can help.

As part of our fundraising, we’re hosting an 8-mile Charity Hike at Box Hill, Surrey, and everyone is welcome to join us! Bring your friends, family or colleagues and enjoy a day outdoors while supporting a meaningful cause. To take part, simply complete our sign-up form and make a minimum donation of £10 to secure your place. If hiking isn’t for you, you can still support our mission by making a donation, every contribution, big or small, will go directly towards the volunteering project.

BTDA has always believed in using dentistry to make a positive impact, strengthen communities and inspire the next generation of dental professionals to give back.
