BSN Journey

Hi, My name is Jyssica. I am a mother of 4, a wife, and a student. I have completed medical assisting school and received my certification. I work as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and surgery scheduler, which I have been doing for 2.5 years. I LOVE the patients I get to work with and overall the medical field. I feel like the medical field is where I belong, and I find so much joy in being able to educate, connect, and impact the people I meet daily. My goal has been to become a nurse for MANY years, but I continuously put my goals off while focusing on my family. I have been working and taking prerequisite classes for nursing at community college for about 3 years and have FINALLY been accepted into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with Chamberlain University here in Sacramento. I started class on January 9, 2023, and my anticipated graduation date is December 20, 2025.

I continue and will continue, for as long as possible, to work while going to school to pay for the expenses of school. With FAFSA I still owe $5,900 for this semester alone. I assume this will most likely repeat each semester. I have applied, and continue to apply, for all the scholarships I can to help with the costs of school. I have obtained work outside of my regular full-time career; however, with my schoolwork load right now taking 3 classes, I have been unable to work any extra hours. I am asking for any help I can get to reach my goals which in turn is going to better the future of my children.
