Wayne Lewis' road to recovery
Donation protected
Many of us take our health for granted. No one ever expects a simple diagnosis to change your life forever, especially at the age of 50.
Our father was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis over a decade ago, it has been an ongoing battle of ups and downs. Just when you think the doctors have it under control, another curve ball is thrown.
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body. Over the years, Wayne has battled lung/heart complications, underwent heart surgery for a pacemaker x2, suffered a stroke resulting in vision loss, mini seizures effecting speech, and kidney failure leading to dialysis.
Earlier this year, he was put on the transplant waitlist - level 4 indicating he had some time. Unfortunately, it took a turn. He received news that no one wants to hear, he now had 15-21 months left before his heart/kidney will no longer allow him to go on.
As they say, after every storm there is a rainbow. He recieved a call last week that he was now at the top of the transplant list for a heart and kidney. In the next few weeks to months(hopefully), he will be undergoing two transplant surgeries. His recovery will be long and hard but nothing that he can't overcome.
During the next few months, there will be lots of medical appts and 5hr drives (Paisley, ON to London, ON). He and his wife will be down an income or even a temporarily job absence.
Our family is asking for a little extra help during these times. We are asking for any donation to help with unexpected costs. We want our dad to be able to focus on his recovery and have a successful transplant.
We appreciate any help that you may be able to provide!
