Jeremy went into the emergency room on May 31st with a really bad headache and one eye crossing. An MRI revealed that he had a tumor on his brain stem and he was told that there would be nothing they could do because of its location and that it was therefore "inoperable". From there they transported him by ambulance to UNC Chapel Hill where he was cared for by their top medical personnel. On June 5th Jeremy had surgery to take a biopsy of the tumor and remove the mass if possible. The neurosurgeon said she had never seen anything like this before but the tumor was actually located inside the brainstem and therefore looked identical to the other brain matter so they were only able to carefully remove a small sample for testing. Fortunately, Jeremy came through the surgery and has done remarkably well in recovery and even impressed all of his medical team by being in ICU after major brain surgery for less than 24 hours. Jeremy has done so well that he was able to return home on June 7th, just two days after surgery to finish his recovery and anxiously await the results of his biopsy.
Prior to the visit that landed Jeremy in the ER, he was a seemingly healthy young man of only 30 years old and he had no symptoms leading up to this event. For those of you that don't personally know Jeremy he is a loving husband and father to his two sons that are 5 and 11. Jeremy and his wife Heather along with all of their friends and family have been blown away by all of the love and support they have received through messages, prayers, phone calls and all around compassion since this journey began. They are still waiting for the results from the biopsy and know that they have a long road ahead but they have faith knowing that God has a plan through it all. If you can't support this family in any other way than prayer then we are grateful for even that but if you can make even a small donation to help Jeremy and his family through this difficult time then it will be greatly appreciated.
