On November 20, 2015, Victor’s Vision will be joining in the international celebration of Universal Children’s Day.
This universal celebration was first proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 with the purpose of promoting the welfare of children worldwide and encouraging countries to act in children’s best interests. This date also marks the day that the United Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1958) as well as when the UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). In celebration of this important day, Victor’s Vision has decided to do a fundraising campaign to support the rights of our own students and children worldwide.
While the Declaration of the Rights of the Child contains ten principles celebrating different child rights, we will be focusing our fundraiser on Principle 7, a child’s right to free and compulsory education.
This principle is so hugely important to us, as Victor’s Vision fights for this principle every day with our students. While we urge our supporters to give as much or as little as they are willing and able to do, we are encouraging “seven-themed” donations that directly support Principle 7. So whether you can give $7, $14, $21 or even $700, your donation will directly support our students and their educational needs! We are calling our campaign “7 Days: Give $7 for Principle #7” and we hope that you will support us in promoting not only our wonderful students but also children around the world!
