B’s Top Surgery (and keeping a roof over their head) Fund

Hi everyone– I’m Will, and I’m making this fundraiser on behalf of a good friend of mine. They’ve been going through a very big journey lately, one that’s been a long time coming, but instead of me telling their situation for you, below is their story in their own words. I couldn’t have put it better. You don’t have to read to donate, but if you’d like to know the full story of why we’d like your help today, here it is:

“ First and foremost, it feels incredibly vulnerable to reach out to my community and ask for help, but here we are. On Tuesday the 12th, I will be having surgery for the first time in my life. This journey has been a long time coming, and I’ll need to miss a full week of work–alongside covering the cost of surgery itself. It’s overwhelming, but I’m finally going to have the top surgery I’ve dreamed of since my mid-teens.

I’ve always been “me,” just “B,” but I’ve never felt truly comfortable in my own skin. Growing up, I didn’t have the language to understand or explain how I felt, let alone the support to explore it. Over time, that discomfort only grew, manifesting in things like body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and endless ways of self-medicating. I even over-exercised for years, chasing the flat-chested look I so desperately wanted, but nothing brought me closer to the sense of peace–of gender euphoria– that I craved.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to secure health insurance, which allowed me to make this surgery a priority. Some people find peace with their bodies through breast implants; for me, identifying androgynously, that peace comes with no chest.
